Size down if btwn sizes

I am 5'9 140 and have an athletic build. I am usually between sizes in SMM suits and I have various styles S/M. I do wish I had sized down to a small for this suit, but there is nothing a little sitch cant fix bc the fabric can be loose if I don't hike it up all the way.

Wish I had bought a size up, but style is cute

5’9”, 175lbs, athletic/hour glass
The top was tts, but the bottoms definitely cut into me uncomfortably and I wish I bought a size up. Other styles I’ve been a Large, but next time I’ll XL.
I’ll be able to alter the bottoms myself but fair warning for anyone else.
